Here's a posting from the newsgroup sonic.dsl about a friend who's
cordless phone was interfering with his Broadlink connection (the same
802.11b as we have been talking about).

Well, I have some interesting information to report!

I spoke with one of the support guys at Broadlink yesterday, and he
asked me if I had a 2.4 GHz phone, and yes, I do.

Last night, I tried the phone while sitting at the computer, and
down goes the link. I hang up, and the link comes back. I have someone
try the phone in our living room, and the link slows down, or at least
ping times shoot way up!

So I have removed the $300 phone (ouch!) and we will see if that
fixes all of the problems. Hmmmm I wonder what kind of phone the
neighbors have...

Has anyone tried Broadlink and their own internal wireless lan? I believe
most of the wireless lans are also in the same frequency range. I am
curious as to how they work.

I am surprised at how susceptible the service is to our phone. I thought
that the spread spectrum aspects of the service were supposed to
help the interference problem. Their residential business model is
gonna have some trouble if they have problems with phones!

Anyways, I will report back in a week or so and let you know how things
are going.
