Frank,
Yes we have had some problems with DSSS phone systems. But not very many
situations. There are other 2.4GHz phone systems like the Siemens phone
system which uses FHSS. The two systems integrate more seamlessly. I am
guessing you have the panasonic gigaset which has high transmit power. This
creates problems. If your neighbor gets the same phone your chances are
reduced it will interfere with your system because every time the signal has
to penetrate walls it attenuates the signal. It doesn't take very many
walls before the signal is in the noise floor.
possible fixes:
1)force your phone into a channel which doesn't cause this to happen
(usually 3 choices)
2)call tech support and they will make an ajustment to your CPE. This may
might help.
3)move your phone base station as far away as possible from the antenna
location
4)if none of these work a more directional antenna might have to be used
Hope this helps,
Chris
BroadLink Communications
Last night, I tried the phone while sitting at the computer, and
down goes the link. I hang up, and the link comes back. I have someone
try the phone in our living room, and the link slows down, or at least
ping times shoot way up!
So I have removed the $300 phone (ouch!) and we will see if that
fixes all of the problems. Hmmmm I wonder what kind of phone the
neighbors have...
Has anyone tried Broadlink and their own internal wireless lan? I believe
most of the wireless lans are also in the same frequency range. I am
curious as to how they work.
I am surprised at how susceptible the service is to our phone. I thought
that the spread spectrum aspects of the service were supposed to
help the interference problem. Their residential business model is
gonna have some trouble if they have problems with phones!
Anyways, I will report back in a week or so and let you know how things
are going.
